Abby’s First Date Turned Awkward Over A Millionaire Claim
Years ago, Abby went on a first date that took an unexpected turn.
She and her date spent the evening at a fall festival, enjoying drinks and casual conversation. But things got a little awkward when the topic shifted to mortgages and home payments. During that conversation, her date told her she should trust him because he was a millionaire. For Abby, that was an immediate red flag. While having money is one thing, bringing it up so boldly, especially on a first date, came across as arrogant rather than impressive. Needless to say, there wasn’t a second date.

Amy and Morgan agreed that this would have been a dealbreaker for them as well, noting that it’s all about how someone approaches sensitive topics like money. Morgan even suggested that his over-the-top claim may have been a sign he wasn’t a millionaire at all. But not everyone saw it that way. Eddie and Lunchbox argued that the girls weren’t being completely honest, insisting most women would be thrilled to date a millionaire, no matter how he revealed it. To make things even more interesting, Abby shared that her date was living in an RV he pulled behind his truck after just moving to town, so whether his claim was true remains a mystery.
The conversation was sparked by a recent article suggesting people should discuss money on a first date. Bobby disagreed, saying it’s better to wait a few months before diving into financial topics. Morgan disagreed, suggesting around the fifth date feels like a good time to discuss your money habits and decisions, although she thinks it’s smart to disclose big things like debt early on.
Money might be a tricky topic for dating, but one thing everyone agreed on? When you bring it up matters just as much as what you say.
