Wow. That was cold. For this time of year? Cold.

Yesterday morning we sat in a ground blind. Yes, we saw deer on a farm next to Medicine Creek in central Lyman County. But the winds picked up and made it impossible to sit in a ground blind.

This morning, 5 or 6 inches of snow later and with winds projected to pick up we opted for a pickup parked on a high vantage point.

Out pops doe, then this fella came along. We were mighty glad he did. It was brutal cold for November, 16th in South Dakota.

Logan had asked about getting a license last August. He got one, and this morning, closed the deal on the season.

Are there bigger deer still roaming around today? Yes. But considering the weather forecast with winds to pick up and temps to plummet:  we figured this one looked mighty good in the back of the pickup headed back to Sioux Falls today.

Now, we can get back to Sioux Falls and get on with our fall and winter. Hunting season, other than a pheasant trip here and there is done.
