Easter is this Sunday, but the big day for kids will be Saturday.  That's when most of the Easter egg hunts and carnivals will be held in and around the Sioux Empire.

Here's a list of Easter activities on Saturday, April 19.

COMMUNITY CARNIVAL - 2pm to 5pm at Linwood Church, 1101 East 57th Street.  Carnival games, face painting, inflatables, prizes and free food.  Everyone welcome.

ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH EASTER EGG HUNT - 10am at 1400 S. Duluth Ave.  All ages welcome.  Refreshments will be served following the Easter storytime.

THE BIG EGG HUNT - Sioux Falls largest Easter egg hunt.  9am-noon at McKennanPark, 1400 S 3rd Ave.   8,000 eggs, inflatables, cotton candy, popcorn and more.  Free event and everyone is welcome.  Four egg-hunt times:  10:15am for 1-3 year olds, 10:30am for 4 year-olds to Kindergarten, 10:45am for 1st-3rd graders and 11am for 4th-5th graders.  Sponsored by the Red Door Church.

EASTER EGG HUNT WITH ALUMINUM CAN DRIVE AND PAPER SHREDDING EVENT - 10am-3pm at the American Legion, 1701 West Legion Drive.  Have your old documents shredded for $5 a bag (up to 20 lbs per bag) and donate your aluminum cans.  Proceeds will benefit Big Paws Canine Foundation that provides service, therapy and companion dogs to disabled veterans and former first responders.  Easter egg hunt from 10:30am-Noon for toddlers to kids 10 years old.  Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

EASTER EGG DROP - A helicopter will drop thousands of eggs from the sky.  Kids 4 years old to 5th grade are invited to come and collect them.  The helicopter will be in Colman at the ball fields north of town at 9am, in Flandreau at the City Part at 11am and at the Jaycees Sports Complex in Garretson at 1pm.  Everyone is invited.  Sponsored by The RescueChurchin Flandreau.

 

On Easter Sunday, take a drive to Pierre for the 61st Annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt on the Governor's lawn.  At 1pm central time, kids up to 10 years of age are invited to hunt for colorful Easter eggs.  Before the Easter egg hunt, Phil Baker will perform on the lawn at 12:15pm.
