After appearances in last season's NCAA Division II playoffs, the Augustana Vikings basketball teams have earned Top 25 preseason rankings. The Viking women are ranked 16th and the men 22nd in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 polls released on Monday.

Wayne State scored all the points it needed in the first quarter of a defensive battle to come away with a 10-7 victory over Augustana Saturday at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.

Augustana is tied for sixth place and the University of Sioux Falls is 10th following the fall portion of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's golf tournament.

The Augustana Vikings gave Jerry Olszewski a win in his first game as head coach. The Vikings raced out to a 41-7 halftime lead, then held off Minnesota State-Moorhead 41-28 in the season opener for both teams at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.

The Augustana men's and women's cross country teams have earned the top spots in the 2013 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Polls. The University of Sioux Falls was picked third in the men's poll while the Cougars were sixth in the women's poll.

Augustana has been picked fifth and the University of Sioux Falls 12th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference coaches volleyball poll.

Nate Baumann's only hit on Friday night was the biggest of the game for the Sioux Falls Canaries. The Canaries' second-year pro from Augustana led off the ninth inning with a home run, breaking a 4-4 tie against the Kansas City T-Bones and sending the Birds to a 6-4 victory at Community America Ballpark.

Sixty-five student athletes from the University of Sioux Falls and 42 from Augustana College have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Spring All-Academic teams.

More post-season honors for Augustana's Jenelle Trautmann and Theresa McMahon. The Vikings' softball standouts have been named to the Daktronics All-Central Region first team.
