Worried about weight gain? If so, don't stress about it, that could actually put on the pounds. That's the finding of a study published in the journal Obesity.

The study involved analyzing the hair follicles of more than 25-hundred men and women over several years.

Those subjects that had a lot of stress in their lives were found to have higher cortisol levels than those with less stress. (Cortisol is the body's stress hormone).

Those with higher cortisol level had larger waists, weighed more and had a higher body mass index. The highest levels were found in those considered obese.

Researchers still aren't clear though if stress causes obesity, or obesity causes stress - or if the two just go hand in hand.

Stayed tuned.
