Pigs (yes, actual PIGS) will be walking around Salem, South Dakota businesses on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  But not because a few escaped from a local hog farm, it's a fundraiser to help McCook Central High School students support their local FFA chapter.

"Passing of the Pigs" is a fundraiser to help McCook Central High School students 'bring home the bacon' for their FFA chapter's scholarship fund.

The FFA students have two pigs that will be making their rounds around Salem on Thursday from 8:00 AM to around 1:00 PM, visiting businesses who must then make a donation to have the pigs taken someplace else. The next destination of the traveling pigs is determined by the business that makes a donation.

Last year the "Pass the Pig" fundraiser helped the McCook Central High School's FFA chapter raise enough money for six $300 dollar scholarships. The fundraiser takes place every year during National FFA week. The 2015 National FFA week runs February 21 through 28, 2015.
