Early Signs of Fall in South Dakota
It could be the trees 'starting to change color.' Or the fall flowers and decorations starting to hit storefronts. It's lighter, later and darker earlier.' Fall is coming. In fact it's coming Monday.
Labor Day has come and gone, but I've already made the switch in my mind. Fall is a funny season. Most years Summer seems to want to hang on, which I like. In my mind Fall is really just one long segue from warm and sunny to the drudgery that we call winter here in South Dakota.
Monday, September 23rd, 2019 is the official start to our season of Fall, or according to science and health, the weather people break our year down into four segments this way;
Meteorological spring includes March, April, and May; meteorological summer includes June, July, and August; meteorological fall includes September, October, and November; and meteorological winter includes December, January, and February.
You'll also notice that at about sunrise and sunset the sun will be pretty much in your eyes while your driving east or west. And if you get bored you could always try that standing a raw egg on its end.
There are a lot of ways to celebrate Fall. Whichever way you decide to celebrate, welcome to the season. Fall is on now!
