Sioux Falls Police are searching for a rape suspect stemming from an incident early Thursday morning.

Police Captain Greg VandeKamp says earlier that evening there was a bonfire in the 100 block of South Spring Avenue. The people at the event were acquaintances of the host, but a couple strangers dropped by Wednesday evening and eventually left.

“At some point what’s believed to be the same two individuals came back.” According to VandeKamp, “She was putting items away in her garage when she was approached and one of the (men) raped her at that location.”

VandeKamp also stated that the 19 year-old victim was alone at the time of the incident which happened between 2:00 and 3:00 AM. The suspect is described as a skinny Native American, 5-10, between 25-30 years old, with short dark hair and last seen wearing a dark flat-billed hat, dark baggy T-shirt and gray baggy jeans with a design on the back.
