Woman Killed in Sanborn County, South Dakota Crash
A woman from Letcher died Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Sanborn County.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 83-year-old Shirley Jean Ruml was driving out a private driveway onto State Highway 37, seven miles northeast of Letcher, just after 5:00 PM.
Ruml was crossing the northbound lane to turn south when her mini-van was struck on the driver's side by a northbound pickup driven by 52-year-old Timothy Gerald Klaas, also of Woonsocket.
Ruml died from her injuries, while Klaas had minor injuries.
The Patrol says Klaas was wearing a seat belt, while Ruml was not.
