If you have listened to Kickin' Country for a while you know that I have a real interest is 'where a song comes from.'  I have talked about it for years.  And when you hear the 'artist that wrote the song,' actually performing it it takes on a different perspective.

I've always been a fan of the song 'Something to be Proud Of' by Montgomery Gentry.  Come to think of it, I don't think they have a song I don't like.  But they have a propensity of picking songs that resonate and reverberate in my soul.  I had the opportunity to see Jeffrey Steel actually perform 'live' years ago at CRS (Country Radio Seminar) in Nashville.  To this day, I have 'never' seen anything or anyone like it.  That expression, sing like nobody's watching; that's Jeffrey Steele.   If you have headphones hooked into your computer or for your tablet or handheld device, put 'em on.  And soak this up.

Jeffrey Steele 'wrote' the song.  Montgomery Gentry 'made it a hit.' It's my goal at Kickin' Country to bring a couple songwriters 'like Jeffrey Steele' to Sioux Falls, so you can feel the song and where it came from.
