Wednesday is Winter Weather Preparedness Day in South Dakota. Each year the state Office of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service and other agencies schedule the day as way to draw attention the dangers winter weather can pose.

State Highway Patrol Superintendent Colonel Craig Price says as winter driving season approaches motorists should remember basic safe driving rules. Price says there's an adjustment period between seasons and motorists need to recall their winter driving skills again.

Public safety agencies are reminding everyone in South Dakota that now is the time to being preparing themselves, families, vehicles and homes for the onset of adverse winter weather.
