Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says officers conducted a city wide saturation patrol on Saturday.

"We had a total of 11 extra officers that were working Saturday night. They came in at 7:00 PM and worked through the night and until 3:00 AM. The officers ended up making nine different DWI arrests. There were 13 speeding tickets and drug arrests as well."

Clemens says the high number of citations written indicates that traffic laws are being broken in Sioux Falls.

"Really we are hoping to find low numbers during these saturation patrols. But having these high numbers just show us that there is a lot of people driving impaired and a lot of people that are breaking the traffic laws. We will continue doing these patrols in the future."

Clemens says a total of 129 different citations were handed out.
