The Midwest Shrine Association meets once every 14 years and approximately 2,000 Shriners and their spouses/families are in Sioux Falls through Saturday. There will be competitions at the Fairgrounds and parades in Tea & Brandon.

The parade in Tea is Thursday (August 21) starting at 6pm. Horses, motorcycles, sprint cars, clowns, men’s choruses, classic and classie autos, and more - hundreds of units in all! Units will parade in Tea.

A second parade will take place in Brandon Saturday morning, (August 23) beginning at  10 a.m.  Shriners’ parades not only help raise awareness for Shriners Hospitals for Children but they are fun and entertaining. Kids and adults will enjoy the variety of parade units and the entertaining Shriners.

Competition begins Friday morning at 8:00 at the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds. Horse corps, motor corps, clowns, and oriental bands will be competing – plus a car show! Never before seen car collections will be displayed! No charge to come and enjoy all the action. Competition will end at approximately 11:00 a.m.  Chanter competition (men’s choruses) begins at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Kresge Recital Hall on the Augustana campus. Again, no charge to hear the best Chanter groups in all of Shrinedom.

Musical units will be performing in downtown Sioux Falls Friday evening at various sites.

The public is invited to these events. All events are family – friendly. Bring your kids, bring your neighbors – help celebrate!
