The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Saturday afternoon that they have signed infielder Ryan Lashley to a contract and placed infielder Frank Martinez on waivers.

The 25-year-old Lashley appeared in 55 games for the Lincoln Saltdogs and St. Paul Saints in 2015, collecting 22 extra-base hits to go along with his 33 RBI. Lashley appeared in 38 games for the Saints last season, batting .295 with 17 extra-base hits and 25 RBI.

The Florida native appeared in seven games for the Can-Am League’s Sussex County Miners this season, collecting three doubles and an RBI in 25 at-bats. Lashley holds a .294 career batting average to go along with his 61 extra-base hits and 94 career RBI.

Martinez was claimed off of waivers by the Gary-Southshore Railcats on Saturday morning. The 12-year veteran hit .215 with four doubles, four homeruns, and 15 RBI over 22 games with the Canaries.

Lashley is expected to make his debut with the Canaries on Saturday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM.
