South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, is hoping they will inspire high school student's interest in fine arts.

SDSU will be hosting an art competition open to high school students from South Dakota in April, but students will have to have their entries submitted to SDSU by Monday, March 24th.

In recent years, many school's art programs have seen funding cuts that has affected not only the schools, but the students.  So organizers of the event are hoping that by offering various prize amounts, the schools and the students will benefit and regain the inspiration needed to continue believing in their fine arts programs.

Along with the judging competition, workshops will be offered on topics like drawing and printmaking, creative clay, and art and design technology.
