Sioux Falls has already set a record rainfall amount in June, which has caused local baseball games and races at Huset's Speedway to be postponed.

In the long run, Huset's and the Sioux Empire Baseball Association (SEBA) aren't going to let Mother Nature affect their sports.

"Huset's is not done. That's not even a thought. We're going to go all out at Huset's Speedway," tells Mark Tassler, announcer and promotions directors at Huset's Speedway. "We're going to make up as much ground in racing as we can, and even if it's on different nights of the week, or in the Fall."

Huset's Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota has seen minimal damage to buildings, equipment, and a car trailer is missing. The race track and parking lot are under water, and the speedway is waiting for the nearby Splitrock Creek to go down. In fact, when it's all said and done, the dirt track may need more water.

Meanwhile, on the baseball diamond, the rain halted some legion games at Harmoden Field, and a 13-and-over tourney at the Pasley Baseball Complex. There were some developmental league games that were played last night, and barring no weather delays, all games will be played tonight.

As far as the wet conditions, they come with the season, and very few baseball complexes can handle the heavy rain.

"Record rain this month puts a strain on the Sioux Falls parks and recreation department," shares Lyle Smith, SEBA Executive Director of Operations. "We've had a significant amount of water, and it takes time to dry. We've had a cool summer, and it's not the best for drying."

SEBA saw last year's ice storm take down backstops, and luckily, there hasn't been any major damage this season.

Huset's Speedway has been rained out five times this season. Last year, the track was postponed six times. Tassler said Huset's is hoping to race on Sunday if the weather cooperates.
