My favorite people in country music (or any musical genre') are the songwriters.

I've done some very amateurish writing myself. It was when i was back in high school that I first discovered Kris Kristofferson's first album and was, as they say, blown away! Since that time I've come to admire so many of the legendary songwriter's (and writer's in general) from Shel Silverstein to the Hag and Willie and so many more that most people have never heard of. The three pictured above, Jamey Johnson, Deborah Allen and Bobby Braddock, are three of the best.

We've all heard stories about how a certain hit song was written. Some come in a 15 minute 'burst of inspiration', so are started, laid away, then picked back up years later. Some writers have to live what they write, others can pull ideas totally out of their imagination and bring us to tears or laughter. Either way, a great song always does one thing: It moves you.

In this video, some of the greatest songwriters in the history of country music (the folks that have moved us all) talk about the process. It all begins with the writer's, and a great song.
