There have been those years in the past for the Vikings, but I couldn't wait for this one to end. What a bizarre season.

I remember walking out of US Bank Stadium after the Vikings demolished the Houston Texans to chants of "Super Bowl" "5-0" and whatever crazy expectation that was out there. I even thought that there might be something a little special about the team considering they started that good without their starting quarterback, running back, left tackle, and a host of other injuries.

But in the back of my mind I thought about how it could all come crashing down. Then it did. By the end of it, I couldn't wait for the season to just be over.

2016 will forever be remembered as one of the weirdest years for the franchise. It won't top the bizarre 2010 season, but it was damn close.

We all remember 2010 right? High expectations, Favre return, slow start, trade for Moss, Moss is gone, Childress is gone, Dome collapses, Blizzard in Philadelphia, Favre's underparts pics, a last place finish in the NFC North, and a Green Bay Packers Super Bowl victory.

Allow me to snap out of it for a second. I'm shrieking at the thought of it.

Minnesota now has another crazy, bizarre list for 2016. Teddy injury, expectations decreased, Bradford trade, Peterson injured, Offensive line injured, 5-0, "Super Bowl Bound," Zimmer's stuffed animals, the Jake Long experiment, Peterson's return, getting destroyed at home by Indianapolis, Peterson returns to injured, plane off the runway, protestors invade stadium, a 3rd place finish in the NFC North, and the Packers have made the playoffs.

Sadly, there's probably even more from both years that I haven't listed.

The bright side to this is that after the 2010 season there wasn't any hope. Vikings fans knew the process was starting from the bottom and that the window closed for the time being. The window hasn't closed on this team quite yet, and the team isn't anywhere from starting from scratch. Will be fun to watch the offseason to see how General Manager Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer fix a depleted offensive line and how they approach the NFL Draft without a 1st round pick.

At least there is some hope going into 2017.

But thankfully we can put 2016 to rest.
