A man was hospitalized after being attacked by three fellow concertgoers at a Jason Aldean show at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre just outside of Chicago on Saturday (August 18). Unfortunately, this wasn’t just a minor scuffle between fans who had too much to drink. Reportedly, it was an unprovoked three-on-one attack that left the victim badly injured.

According to local news source the Tinley Park Patch, the 28-year-old victim was walking from the bathroom back to his lawn seat at the open-air arena when he was knocked to the ground by another man. He managed to fight off the first attacker, but was jumped by an additional two men before he could get away.

“(The) victim advised he was walking back to his lawn seat … up the north concourse ramp when a male white 19 to 26 years of age wearing a gray shirt and shorts that looked highly intoxicated charged him and tackled him to the ground,” the police report noted. “The victim and suspect began to roll around on the ground when the victim was able to take control of the suspect and get on top of him. When that happened, two other unknown subjects knocked the victim back down and began to kick him.”

The victim managed to cover his head, but he received multiple kicks to the torso before a friend saw the brawl and pulled the attackers off. The three perpetrators — who the victim reportedly had never seen before — ran off before police arrived at the scene.

The injured Jason Aldean fan was taken to the hospital, where doctors found that his broken ribs had punctured his spleen. He suffered significant blood loss and had his spleen removed as a result of the horrific unprecedented attack. He is expected to be discharged on Friday (August 24).

Despite the violent incident, Aldean’s show went on as planned. It’s unlikely that the ‘Take a Little Ride’ hitmaker heard about the incident before he took the stage — or at all. Just last month, a man was shot following a different Aldean concert in North Carolina.
