Kelsea Ballerini may be madly in love with her new husband, Morgan Evans, but that doesn't mean she's a fan of love songs. In fact, she claims to hate them in "I Hate Love Songs," her new single.

It's the second radio release off Ballerini's sophomore album, Unapologetically, written with Shane McAnally and Old Dominion's Trevor Rosen. The throwback ballad embodies a distinct '50s doo-wop flavor, with slowed musical accompaniment, sultry guitar parts, delicate piano and backing singers that give a slight gospel feel. All the while, Ballerini sings softly, but assuredly, of her distaste for love songs.

"I hate Shakespeare and Gosling and cakes with white frosting / Two names in a heart-shaped tattoo / I think Cupid is stupid and violets are purple not blue," she sings on the first verse.

Sure, she loves her guy, but she doesn't have to sing about it. She'll just show him when no one is watching. It's a soaring ballad that showcases a different side to the country singer — Ballerini's "I Hate Love Songs" strikes a chord.

Kelsea Ballerini Says She Hates Love Songs, But Does She Really?

Kelsea Ballerini's "I Hate Love Songs" Lyrics:

I hate Shakespeare and Gosling and cakes with white frosting / Two names in a heart-shaped tattoo / I think Cupid is stupid and violets are purple not blue / I hate catching bouquets, the honeymoon phase / And letterman jackets don't fit / Your eyes can't hold stars and you'd die if your heart really skipped

Chorus:

I hate love songs (I hate love songs) / Yeah, I really do (I really do) / I hate love songs (I hate love songs) / But I love you

I hate pink hearts with glitter and Valentine's dinner / And roses just die in a week / We were drunk when we met so we don't know our anniversary, woops / Oh and I'm far too vain to kiss in the rain / The clouds, they aren't numbered to nine / And you make me feel something but it sure as hell ain't butterflies

And I'll always love you but I don't have to sing it / "For worse or for better" don't rhyme / They say I got the right one so now I should write one / But I'd rather just show you tonight
