Jesus Christ Superstar is the final show of the 2016-2017 season at the Sioux Empire Community Theatre (SECT). This show should certainly end the series with a bang.

Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice. The show first opened in the 1970's, but the music and themes of the show still hold up.

The show is centered on the last week of Jesus' life, but seen through the eyes of Judas.

The show is described as:

Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

Jesus Christ Superstar opens May 5th and runs through May 21st with shows Thursday through Sunday. All shows are at 7 PM except for Sunday matinees at 2 PM.

Tickets are $25 or $30 and can be purchased online at Sioux Falls Theatre or The Orpheum box office at 315 N. Phillips Ave or by calling 605-360-4800.

I had the pleasure of being in last year's final show at SECT, Mary Poppins, and believe me, they save the best for last. You won't want to miss it.
