Jack Daniels By the Barrel
If you are a serious whiskey drinker, feast your eyes upon this unique gift idea that will make your liver quiver. It's an entire barrel of Jack Daniels guaranteed to delight even the most serious collector of the legendary distiller.
The single-barrel is for sale at Costco for a mere $8,499.99.
Here's the big question asked by most: Does the barrel actually come with the whiskey in it? The answer is no. According to the Reddit comment board, you will be sold the actual aged whiskey from this barrel in bottles.
Reddit user LovableContrarian explains:
It is the very same barrel. They bottle it for you, because 99% of people who buy the thing would have no idea (or the facilities) to store and use a full whiskey barrel. They'd ruin it.
By bottling the barrel and giving you the same exact barrel and all of the whiskey from the barrel, you more or less get the same thing, just with a guarantee that the whiskey will be properly stored.
This is good for the consumer, but also important for Jack Daniels. You don't want some guy giving out skunky whiskey with your name on it that he stored in a barrel in his living room for 6 months."
For the record, Costco is scheduled to open in Sioux Falls on October 3rd, 2013.
I guess I'll know what aisle to check first. (hic-up)
