Do you ever find yourself in a position where you have to 'explain' country music to someone?  Just the other day, I had to do just that. To my wife.

Here's the setup. We were at a wedding dance in Dell Rapids, SD. The wedding DJ was going through the standard wedding songs. Then the song came on. Lee Brice with I Don't Dance. I leaned over to my wife and said, 'if we were getting married tomorrow, that would be the song I would want to have our first dance with.'

She proceeded to tell me, it would be a hard song to dance to. I told her it wasn't the beat of the music I was interested in, but the message. I Don't Dance. The words are perfect. Man meets woman. Man wants to impress woman. Man has different interests. But mans different interests mean less and less the more time he spends with the woman. She wondered what the heck I was talking about. I went on...

When a guy meets the right gal, he wants to do things for her. Not just for himself anymore. He finds himself in situations where he's doing things he would have never thought of doing before he meets 'said woman.'

The lyric is perfect and it explains perfectly.

"I Don't Dance"

I’ll never settle down,
That’s what I always thought
Yeah, I was that kind of man,
just ask anyone

I don’t dance, But here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It Ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere
Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand
Cause, I don’t dance

Love’s never come my way,
I’ve never been this far
Cause you took these two left feet
And waltzed away with my heart

No, I don’t dance, but here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere
Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand, girl
Cause, I don’t dance
Ohhh
I don’t dance

Ooh

I don’t dance, but here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere

I don’t dance, but here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere
Yeah, you got me in the palm of your hand, girl
Cause, I don’t dance

Oh,
No..

The writers of the song have lived it. They got it right. Rob Hatch and Dallas Davidson got together and wrote a beautiful song with Lee Brice. Oh, and they got another number one by doing so.

I Don't Dance.

Maybe not, but meet the right woman guys....and you might learn a few things or two along the way.
