Household Hazardous Waste Facility Recycles Used Cooking Oil From Your Holiday Feast
The holidays are a time when it’s all right to indulge a little, and nothing’s more indulgent than a delicious fried turkey. But what do you do with all the oil from your deep fryer once the table is cleared and family has all gone home? You don’t want to throw it in the garbage, and it will only clog your sink if you try to pour it down the drain.
Let the Household Hazardous Waste Facility clean up after your holiday feast! Bring your used cooking oil to our facility at 1015 East Chambers Street, just off North Cliff Avenue. Disposal is free, and the oil will be recycled as a renewable fuel. (Sorry, no waste from businesses or organizations is accepted.)
Make the most of your trip!
The Household Hazardous Waste Facility also recycles holiday lights (no trees), household cleaners, automotive fluids, paint, rechargeable batteries, and electronics like TVs, stereos, phones, and computers. For a more comprehensive disposal list, please visit www.siouxfalls.org/green and download our Residential Guide to Sustainability, or call our office, 605-367-8695, Ext. 3, to speak with a representative.
