Garth Brooks' North Carolina fans are just as excited to see him live as they were 16 years ago. In fact, even more folks are lining up to get tickets for his five Greensboro shows.

Brooks has surpassed the 56,000 tickets sold for a run of dates at the Joel Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. Those concerts took place in March 1998, three years before he retired from the road to stay home with his daughters.

Tickets are still available for the Nov. 19, 20 and 23, 2014 shows at the Greensboro Coliseum. His success in the Tar Heel State comes after similar success in each of his first few tour stops, including Chicago, Atlanta and Jacksonville. Low ticket prices have helped to make each show a near sellout. So far, Brooks has announced dates through December 6 in St. Louis, Mo., but more are expected for 2015 in the coming days and weeks.
