Dierks Bentley took his Somewhere on a Beach Tour to Houston on Sunday (Aug. 21), where Texas musician Kevin Fowler made a special appearance.

As Bentley told the crowd, it's difficult to follow Fowler in concert in the Lone Star State, and once again the Texas native proved exactly why after a performance of his song "100% Texan" with the "Drunk on a Plane" singer accompanying.

"When you're playing in Texas, never follow Kevin Fowler," Bentley advised. "Bad idea. Just don't do it! Seriously, walk away. Step away. I did it here one time. I had to follow him here one time. It went from 50,000 to 5,000. What I learned, is if you can't beat 'em ask them to join you. Kevin Fowler, will you join me?"

As Fowler joined Bentley on a small stage set up in the middle of the venue, he said he wanted Bentley to become a Texan.

"I've been bestowed by the state of Texas tonight to make our buddy Dierks Bentley an honorary Texan," Fowler said to screams, handing the Nashville singer a "Don't Mess with Texas" bumper sticker, which Bentley slapped onto his guitar.

"I think we should do a song about being from Texas and being damn proud of it," Fowler said before breaking into an energetic performance of "100% Texan."

While Fowler kicked off the song, Bentley assisted on the chorus and let his friend take the lead throughout most of the ode to Texas. When they finished, Bentley told Fowler to keep the guitar. After all, it was the least he could do for being made an honorary Texan.

"There's nothing like playing Texas and there's nothing like this great country we live in," Bentley concluded.
