Chocolate Cake From Scratch Draws Acute Interest
The host of Viewpoint University Rick was bugging me about my chocolate cake that I bake. Before I give in to his unreasonable demands of baking one for him, a listener suggested that I post the recipe.
On the good side, this cake is really good. Unfortunately, since opening my big yap I have been pegged to put my cake on display at a Sioux Falls fundraiser. Actually that may be a good thing, but it makes me nervous.
Cold Water Chocolate Cake
2 c. flour, 2 tsp. soda, 1/2 tsp. salt
Sift these ingredients into a large bowl.
Then sift these next ingredients on top of the previous mix:
1 c. flour, 2 c. sugar, and 6 Tablespoons of cocoa.
Next add 3/4 cup oil, 3 Tablespoons vinegar and 2 c. cold water.
Mix thoroughly then pour into ungreased 9 X 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. Then top with homemade frosting. Seriously. If you put the canned frosting on this cake it will not be as good and I will look like a big fat liar. My mom made this cake for me growing up and I knew if I wanted to have it as an adult the baton needed to be passed. Thanks, Mom.
