I'm ready to go outside after sitting in the house all winter. Sioux Falls is going to be in the upper 60's on Sunday.

I love working in the yard. And nothing is better than getting it all cleaned up at first in the spring. Snow came a little early last fall and I didn't get all the leaves cleaned up, so I've got some yard waste to deal with.

What do you do with all the waste? There is no leaf drop off in the spring. That is only available in the fall. Last spring was an exception because of the ice storm.

This year you have to either dispose of yard waste via your garbage handler or haul it to the sanitary landfill.

If you are dealing with hauling it yourself, here's some information you need to know. I talked with Penny at City Of Sioux Falls Sanitary Landfill.

She explained, 'make sure to separate your grass and leaves from your tree branches because when you unload them at the site, they go in different areas.'

Penny also pointed out, 'make sure you tarp open loads. Any open loads that come in that are not covered with a tarp, there is a $25 additional fee.'

The regular fees at the landfill are $5 per truck load and $2 per car load. This applies to strictly yard waste.

The Sioux Falls landfill is open Monday thru Saturday from 7:30am to 5:00pm. They are CLOSED ON SUNDAY.

The City Of Sioux Falls Sanitary Landfill is located 7 miles West of the Empire Mall on 41st Street. You will see it to the South of the road.
