Two Iowa Cities Are among the Hottest Housing Markets in America
The once frenetic housing market that swept across the nation just a couple of years ago has died down considerably, but some places around America are still seeing 'Sold' signs going up on houses almost as fast as they go on the market.
Stacker has crunched the latest numbers from Redfin to determine the 50 Places Where Homes Are Selling the Fastest. Metro areas were ranked by the fewest median days listed for sale in May.
A pair of Iowa cities made the elite list.
At number 21 overall is Cedar Rapids.
Iowa's second-largest city (population: 136,429) sold 328 homes in May at a median price of $191,000.
Houses didn't stay in the market long. Just nine days on average.
The Hawkeye State's third-largest city also cracked the Top 40.
Davenport (population: 100,486) is 36th overall with 383 houses sold in May at an average of $187,500.
The average home was off the market in 11 days.
But that's nothing compared to Top Ten markets, where six days or less was the norm.
