For One Day Only - It's Okay to Crowd the Plow. Thanks, Kids.

I really don't like to see snow plows this early in the fall, but this weekend is an exception. It's time for the 5th Annual Paint the Plows event. The hard work and artistic creativity is the result of area kids. Saturday, October 11th, 27 plows painted by area elementary schools and youth agencies will be on display at the Empire Mall in the JCPenney north parking lot.

The students and their friends and family as well as the general public are welcome to come, view the plows, and vote for your favorite. The plows are set up to be viewed by car or on foot.

The Street Division primes the plows, and the schools and organizations supply the paint. The participants receive the plows at the end of August after school starts and complete their works of art the first week in October.

People who attend Saturday’s event can vote for their favorite plows. The top three favorites will be featured in the Parade of Lights through downtown Sioux Falls this November.
