A loyal dog guarded his master for 30 minutes before help arrived after falling through the ice while hunting on the Colorado River Tuesday. The extremely distressed dog was seen running around the ice not sure what to do. His master, who appeared to be in his early 60's, kept waving the dog off from coming any closer.

The dogs behavior managed to get the attention of other nearby hunters who dialed 911 for help.

Emergency personnel were on the scene within minutes.

The man was treated for hypothermia and had a tearful reunion with his dog once back on shore.

Whether it's Colorado, Minnesota, or South Dakota, I hope this story will serve as a reminder to know the thickness of the ice while fishing, hunting, or riding snowmobile this winter. Be safe!
