City of Brandon Forced to Enact Water Restriction Plan
The lack of precipitation around the Sioux Empire the past few months has caught up with the city of Brandon.
Brandon was recently forced to tap into an additional well in which iron and manganese aren’t filtered from the water. The move was precipitated by recent levels of high water usage in the city.
Brandon City Administrator Bryan Read, told KDLT, "Two million gallons of water are being used every day in the city, which is too much for us to produce on a consistent basis.”
If drought conditions continue to get worse around the area, a mandatory ban on all outside watering activities may be coming in the future.
As of right now, Brandon residents are being instructed to adhere to an odd-even day watering schedule, which means those who live on even streets water on even numbered days, and vice versa.
Brandon residents are also being told not water between the hours of 10 AM and 6 PM until further notice.
