80-year-old Steve Montelongo jumped into action after seeing a terrible accident.

Montelongo saw a person drive his vehicle into a canal in Modesto, California. He shared with a local CBS station, "He was in there trapped. All four doors shut. He was panicking already, you know because the water was rising. The water was rushing in, the car was starting to move."

That's not all. If you watch the entire video you see that it's not the first time Montelongo has helped people. You'll see that he also helped people escape a dangerous fire.

Tom Olsen with the California Highway Patrol is very grateful for the elderly man's heroic efforts. But Montelongo doesn't consider himself a hero, he told CBS, "I was just a fella that got put in the right place at the right time."
