It was Wednesday, June 18th, 2014, when a tornado ripped through the South Dakota town of Wessington Springs, destroying homes and businesses and causing significant damage to many other buildings.  Wessington Springs continues to rebuild and life is closer to being back to what it was before June 18th. And now, just 4 months later, Wessington Springs has been chosen for the honor of being the South Dakota Capital of the Day.

On Wednesday, October 15th, 2014, the small town of Wessington Springs will be the South Dakota Capital of the Day.  Activities for the day will include a Main Street walk, tours around town and a roundtable meeting with community officials.  Citizens will also be able to attend a community social and get the chance to talk with Governor Dennis Daugaard.  The community social will be held at Sweet Grass, 116 Main Street E. from 10 AM to 10:45 AM.

Joining the Governor in Wessington Springs will be the First Lady.  Linda Daugaard will be reading to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at 1:30pm at the Wessington Springs Elementary School.
