If you haven't seen it on social media yet you probably will, I'm sure someone will make you aware of it. March 22 is listed as National "As Young As You Feel Day."

It's the one day each year when we're all suppose to stop acting our chronological age and get out there and have some fun - act as young as you feel.

Just for a point of reference, my chronological age is 54. My mental age? - depends on who I'm with. I've got some friends who can act pretty juvenile - (wink, wink).

I have to admit though, some days I actually feel younger - and then there are those days when I feel like I got run over by a truck in my sleep and ache all over.

Remember growing up when your parents were in their 50's? - they were like so old. Funny how our view on life changes as we mature.

Today - at least for me - 54 is actually very young. In fact, whenever I see someone in the obit section of the paper listed in their 50's I think, "How young they were."

I really do think age is nothing more than a number. I know several people in their 70's and 80's who could run circles around me - but then again, I'm built for comfort and not speed.

Years ago you never heard of things like "The Senior Games" which are held annually all around the world. More and more people are choosing to stay physically fit.

I also think our general "take on life" has changed over the years. If I were to ask my daughter, whose 23, if 54 is old I'm guessing she would say, "No" - at least I hope.

But I also think people today work harder at trying to look younger. My wife is going to kill me for writing this, but she has a cupboard full of lotions to help keep her looking young.

Which, by the way, have I told you yet how young my beautiful bride looks? She looks like she's in her 20's - okay, maybe early 30's (another wink, wink).

My point to this whole thing is this - don't pay any attention to "the number." Get out there and live life to the fullest, not just today but everyday.

My hope - at least for me - is that instead of my obit listing my age (which again is nothing more than a number), it'll say, "He never acted his age and lived life to the fullest."
