An investigation is underway into the cause of a mobile home fire in northeast Sioux Falls that left six pets dead.

Dakota News Now reports the fire broke out around noon on Monday at a home on the 3100 block of North Fiero Place at Cain's View Estates, according to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue Capt. Micheal Gramlick.

The home was fully engulfed when crews arrived on the scene.  The flames were under control in about 15 minutes.

Gramlick said there was extensive fire damage throughout the home. Everyone was able to get out of the home safely before crews arrived, but four dogs and two ferrets died in the fire.

Fire crews rotated the cope with the extreme cold.

It's reported that the home did not have a sprinkler system.
