A Sioux Falls man received life threatening injuries after being beaten at a residence in the 1400 Block of North Main Avenue Sunday afternoon.

"We had a few people that were inside," according to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens.

"Three people came in an unlocked back door. They had baseball bats and started beating the 56-year-old male victim. After several minutes, they stopped and searched the residence. It sounded like they were looking for somebody else. But, they didn't find anybody and then the three left. The victim was taken to the hospital with a skull fracture. He was taken to surgery right away."

Later on Sunday night, Clemens says police arrested a suspect in the attack.

"Two of the three guys had masks on. Witnesses recognized the person without a mask. We were able to find him later that night. He was arrested for aggravated assault and burglary."

Clemens identified the suspect as 24-year-old Sonny Bear Thunder of Sioux Falls
