COVID-19 has crept its way into the Sioux City, Iowa Police Department.

Dakota News Now is reporting that Sioux City Police Chief, Rex Mueller, and eight other individuals within the department have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Dakota News Now, on Tuesday (April 21), the Sioux City Police Department announced to the public the total number of employees inside the department that were infected with the virus.

The report says on Thursday (April 9) the Sioux City Police Department revealed that several staffers had tested positive for COVID-19, but they did not give out all the details at that time.

In a news brief from the department, Dakota News Now reports that besides Police Chief Mueller, a police captain, two lieutenants, a sergeant, an officer, and three civilian employees have all been infected with the virus.

The report goes on to say that most of the staffers have experienced mild symptoms of the virus, and some of the employees have already been cleared to go back to work.
