Maybe a Pistol Annies reunion really is closer than we think? The trio revved up the excitement for new music with a mini-reunion during a stop on Miranda Lambert's Livin' Like Hippies Tour in Lexington, Ky., on Friday (March 2).

Lambert brought out her Annies co-horts Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley to sing two of their most notable hits and the crowd's reaction is a strong indicator that fans are ready for more. It was like no time had passed as the fearless trio came together for the fiery "Hell on Heels" and "Takin' Pills," fully committing to both performances with the bold nature fans love them for.

The trio were definitely in their element, and the crowd was loving every minute of it, as Lambert, Monroe and Presley brought all the edge and power that made these tracks fan favorites when they were at the height of their short (thus far) career.

All three ladies sounded on point, emanating their chemistry from their stage into the crowd. The packed house sang along to both tracks, shouting the final, "I'm hell on heels, sugar daddy, I'm coming for you" back to the trio at the end of the performance. The reunion came one night after Lambert invited Monroe to sing  "Heart Like Mine" during a show in Monroe's native Knoxville.

Pistol Annies' debut in 2011 was met with critical acclaim, and Hell on Heels hit the No. 1 spot on the country charts. The 2013 follow-up Annie Up, received similar praise, and both projects pushed the envelope in terms of sound and lyrical content in the genre.

Lambert confirmed in summer of 2017 that the Annies are in fact reuniting for a new album, offering an update in an early 2018 interview that they have written one song, but the project isn't close to being finished.

"Everybody is kind of in different directions, which is why the Annies always takes a while. We're very much in the spirit of the Annies right now," she tells Storme Warren of The Highway.

Lambert continues on her Livin' Like Hippies Tour through March 24, while Monroe is slated to release her new album, Sparrow, in April.
