Minnesota Twins star Byron Buxton is going to require season-ending surgery for his ongoing knee issues.

According to ESPN, there is no public date set for the surgery, but the expectation is that it will occur this week so Buxton can get a head start on his rehab and be reading for opening day.

Buxton had moments of MVP success in 2022, but the injury bug once again derailed his season and his overall numbers.

Minnesota gave Buxton a new deal in the off-season and the hope was the previous injury issues would be in the past, but unfortunately, Buxton is dealing with them again.

Minnesota had been in first place for most of the 2022 season until the Cleveland Guardians took over in August and haven't looked back.

Hopefully, for the Twins, the off-season will bring more health for Buxton and optimism about having a complete and successful season in 2023.
