Lo and behold! The mighty wiener will soon take to the skies! (There's something I'm pretty sure has never been uttered.)

Oscar Mayer is adding to it's iconic "Wiener-fleet." A wiener drone will soon grace the skies.

This summer, the WienerDrone, which is 15 inches wide, 24 inches long and weighs about six pounds (impressive) will drop single hot dogs from a maximum altitude of 1,200 feet at various events in select cities.

Never before would a wiener of that size hover above a festival.

Oh please come to Sioux Falls Jazzfest!

While we wait for the wiener to drop, it's perhaps time to squash the bad rap hot dogs were given. Part of this Oscar Mayer campaign is to promote the company’s overhauled hot dogs, which are now supposedly free of all added nitrates, nitrites, by-products and artificial preservatives.

So let's hear it for a better, healthier hot dog, America! And let those wieners fly!
