The latest tactic in the field of thievery - putting a glue-like substance on mailbox chutes so the letters can't fall to the bottom.

I should point out, so far I haven't heard of any cases yet here in the Sioux Empire, but you know it's only a matter of time.

Where it's really become a problem is in New Jersey. Residents there have noticed a glue-like substance on mailboxes preventing letters from going down the chute.

The U.S. Postal Service says what's happening in New Jersey is actually happening all across the country.

They say it's often a method used by thieves to try to snatch envelopes containing cash or checks before they can reach their final destination.
