Yes, it IS a real day of recognition!  National Weatherperson's Day is a holiday that is observed on February 5 primarily in the United States.  Recognizing those that study weather forecasting, broadcast meteorology and volunteer storm spotters, National Weatherperson's Day is observed on the birthday of John Jeffries, one of the United States' first weather observers.

Along with being able to talk low pressure systems, forecasting upcoming high temperatures and predicting precipitation totals, KDLT meteorologist Brian Kirk has a talent that many probably weren't even aware of.  But thanks to KDLT's Laura Monteverdi and Kevin Hurd the secret is out!

Happy National Weatherperson's Day to KDLT meteorologist Brian Kirk!  You can hear Brian Kirk's forecasts on KIKN 100.5 on Mondays at 8:30 AM and Wednesdays at 7:40 AM.
