Aldi Makes Massive Meat Product Recall Over Metal Pieces
Aldi is recalling around 9,500 pounds of one of its very popular meat products.
Shoppers who recently picked up a bag of frozen meatballs at Aldi may want to check their freezers.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall of nearly 9,500 pounds of frozen Italian-style meatballs sold at Aldi stores nationwide, citing potential contamination with metal fragments.
The affected product is the 32-ounce bag of fully cooked, frozen "Bremer Family Size Italian Style Meatballs," containing about 64 meatballs per package.
The meatballs carry a "Best By" date of 10/30/26. The products were distributed to Aldi supermarket locations nationwide.
The recall was issued by West Seneca, New York-based Rosina Food Products, Inc., the manufacturer behind the Bremer brand label.
The issue came to light after a customer called to complain about finding metal fragments within the product.
As of February 22, there had been no confirmed reports of injuries. Nonetheless, federal regulators are urging consumers not to take any chances.
The FSIS is advising anyone who has purchased the recalled meatballs to either discard them immediately or return them to the store for a refund.
Consumers with questions can contact Rosina Food Products customer service at 1-888-767-4621 or reach the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854.
