
‘High-Risk’ South Dakota Offender Being Released in Brookings
If you live in or around Brookings, South Dakota, officials are releasing a "high-risk offender" today. Be on the lookout!
25-year-old Dalton Haug is being released after he served "the entirety of his sentence for intentional damage to property in Brookings County." The South Dakota Department of Corrections has been alerting the public before Dalton's release.

Dalton Haug is a white male with brown hair, blue eyes, weighs 185 pounds, and is about 5'10''. He was sentenced on June 23rd, 2021.
Why is Dalton Haug Being Released in South Dakota? Is He Dangerous?
Dalton Haug served the time for his crime. However, Secretary of Corrections for the South Dakota Department of Corrections Nick Lamb explains that he does have a violent history and could have repeat violations.
“Given this offender’s criminal history and an elevated risk of reoffending and violent behavior identified through institutional assessments, law enforcement and the public are being notified of this release.”
Since Dalton Haug has served his entire sentence, he will not be on parole supervision. Dalton will be released in Brookings.
