It Was Only a Few Minutes, But Probably Seemed Longer for Customers Affected by Power Outage in Colton, Hartford

A failed Sioux Valley Energy substation caused around 3,000 customers to be without power in the Colton and Hartford areas Thursday evening.  

The power loss was brief in nature as Sioux Valley Energy was able to divert power to most of the affected areas within an hour of the first outage report.  By 7pm only 27 customers in Minnehaha County were listed on Sioux Valley Energy’s website as out of power.
