Iowa transportation officials are rolling back a number of traffic cameras used to regulate vehicle speeds. This will affect the speeding cameras in Sioux City.

The Department of Transportation on Tuesday released evaluations on speed and red-light cameras that six cities operate on state roads. The report says that almost one-third of the cameras must go.

Specifically in Sioux City, both cameras that catch speeders along Interstate 29 will be removed. Deadline for their disappearance will be April 17.

In addition, Sioux City will also need to remove three red light cameras. Two others are deemed acceptable for continued use.

If Sioux City would like to appeal the decision, the 30-day clock has begun. All city leaders have to prove is that the cameras are targeting "high-crash or high-risk locations."
