How Hard Is It To Work From Home In South Dakota?

Some people call it the 'new normal'. I prefer to call it the 'temporary normal'.

Working from home. Because of the topsy turvy world in which we live for the time being, thousand of people in South Dakota and millions around the United States and the rest of the world are working from home. And everyone has a different situation.

I've talked to people who think it's pretty cool. Can sleep in a little later. Don't have the commute. Solitude.

Others, well, there are kids, pets, spouses, and just the 'everyday life' of a person world. Many seemed to like it at first, it was novel, a change of pace. But after a certain amount of time...eh. Not so great.

Our friends at Wallethub checked around the country, state by state, to see just how easy or hard it is to work from home. They used a dozen key metrics and found that the Mount Rushmore state, good 'ol South Dakota wasn't bad. Not bad at all.

Us folks here that call South Dakota home ranked 10th out of the 50 states and District of Columbia. How did we rate so high? Well, the Wallethub article considered things like internet cost, cybersecurity, how large and crowded homes are in the state along with other factors.

Delaware, Washington and New Hampshire topped the study, with South Dakota sandwiched between North Carolina and Virginia at Number 10. And what about our neighbors?

Minnesota was lucky number 13, while Nebraska and Iowa didn't fare as well, landing at #37 and #44 respectively. North Dakota was down at 46. The worst of all? Alaska.

So if you're having a challenge adjusting to working at home, the good news is, it's a lot better than most of the other states. And the best news?

It's NOT the new normal. It's a temporary normal.
