Freeman did it again. If you were on hand for the Firehouse Rib Cookoff in Freeman, South Dakota this past weekend you know that Freeman hit it out of the park again. Earlier this year, they drew thousands to town with their chislic festival. They may not have had as many people, but the food was great!

The ribs were awesome, the brisket was as good as any you'll find in the Lonestar State of Texas. Best of all the weather was perfect for a small-town gathering. Throw in a sweet corn eating contest and the evening was pretty fun overall!

Thanks to Chad Soulek for having me out to be one of the judges for the rib contest. Other than, 'a little too much to eat,' I had a great time at the event.

One of the best things about the event was the chefs! Fire departments from around the area were battling for the right to be named champions of the grill, instead of battling flames.

I'm sure they'll be at it again next year. If you missed it, put The Firemans Cook-Off on your list of events to check out next summer.
