As of Friday afternoon, the southeast area of Sioux Falls will be the official new home to Fire Station 12.

The newest fire station will be located at 3300 South Faith Avenue, which is kitty-corner to the new Ben Reifel Middle school.  According to a press release from the City of Sioux Falls, "The City’s newest fire station will provide service to the ever-growing southeast area of Sioux Falls. This area has seen tremendous growth in recent years including residential, retail, and schools. Once open, residents in the service territory for Station 12 will experience improved response times for services."

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its social distancing practices, the fire station's groundbreaking ceremony will only be open to the media.  The ceremony will be virtually broadcasted to the public on the city's Facebook page.  City officials attending the celebration will include Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken as well as Sioux Falls Fire Chief Brad Goodroad.
